A family passion story for six generations. Champagne Xavier Leconte originated in 1870, when Onésime Leconte brought viticulture to the family. In 1978 Xavier took charge of the House and it was on this date that all the grapes were crushed on their press, then vinified and aged in their cellars. His son Alexis, oenologist board, joined him and represents the sixth generation on the Estate. He has since expanded their collection by creating Coteaux Champenois 100% Meunier - Blanc, Rouge et Rosé - as well as Ratafias Champenois monocépages.

A look back at the 2018 harvest with Alexis Leconte: “The rainy winter conditions of 2017 and the high temperatures of spring 2018 caused an early flowering in early June. The many flowers were a good sign for the coming harvest. Thanks to the sunshine and the strong heat that followed, the grapes matured in ideal conditions. At harvest, the clusters were numerous, in a perfect health state as well as a richness of sugars and aromas well above average. The quality of the musts collected already foreshadowed high-quality wines, and clear wine tastings confirm the exceptional character of the 2018 vintage.”
We really appreciate this Champagne Les Scellés de Terroirs – Lieu-dit Le Clos de Poiloux Pinot Noir, it has a pretty golden yellow colour, a woody and buttery nose that opens on notes of vanilla and citrus. Rich and creamy, the mouth is ample and complex, beautiful freshness. You can also enjoy the Brut Nature Les Reflets by Sylvie, which combines power and breadth on the palate, it is very pleasant, with notes of almond and pear, with a nice persistence on the palate. Also taste the Xavier Heritage Cuvée, combining flavor and distinction, rich, with the nose dominated by fresh flowers and small, intense dried fruits, with notes of pear and honey. Or Le Charme d'Anaïs 2012, rich and very fine moss, with honey nuances, the nose of small fruits (peach), sweet in the mouth, with a silky texture. La Signature du Hameau Brut, is a gourmet and warm Cuvée, with nuances of cooked yellow fruits and hazelnut. This Cuvée is representative of the encépagement of their vineyard with its 80% of Meunier, 15% of Pinot Noir and 5% of Chardonnay. Elaborated with 80% of wines of the harvest year and supplemented with 20% of reserve wines (stored in lightning). Vinification in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats and for part vinified in barrels. Or the Cuvée L'Intuition d'Alexis Brut, specially made for Alexis, of golden hue, with nuances of ripe fruit, notes of linden and apricot, is winey mouth with creamy touches. We will finish with the Rosé de Saignée: Saignée 2 Terroirs 2012, Sustained, with aromas dominated by raspberry and redcurrant, with hints of fruit macerated on the palate, a success. Champagne Pierre Legras has recently launched its new identity (logo, new dress, names of vintages) reinforced on its origins and terroir of Chouilly, says Vincent Legras. Very recently, a Rosé Grand Cru Chouilly has completed its range. Today, the house Pierre Legras launches a vintage out of standard Black Jacket, a Blanc De Noirs Millésime 2014 supplied in its metal box.
Each bottle of Champagne Pierre Legras embodies the spirit of its founders. Men of character who dared to imagine the most prestigious of realms. Born in 1662, under Louis XIV, Pierre Legras initiated one of the largest families of winemakers in Chouilly. For three and a half centuries, ten generations have succeeded him and honoured his legacy. Vincent Legras (11th generation) is the head of the ten-hectare family house (seven of which are classified as Grand Cru in Chouilly), and today he has just finished his vintages. Viticulture is reasoned there, and special care is taken to respect the environment: sexual confusion, grassing every other row, trial wide vines. A process of High Environmental Value (HVE) certification is underway.
A real favorite for this remarkable Champagne Blanc De Blancs Grand Cru Millésime 2006, 100% Chardonnay, it is a powerful and gourmet wine that smells like brioche, with in the final, delicate nuances of honey and fruit macerated, a treat in the mouth.
Excellent Blanc De Blancs Grand Cru, 100% Chardonnay, bright and bright light gold, the bubbles are fine and persistent, a fine and elegant nose, with intense notes of white flowers and citrus, ample, beautiful mineral attack. And the remarkable Blanc De Blancs Grand Cru cuvée Spéciale, 100% Chardonnay, is a success, with the nose of white flowers and grapefruit, all in elegance, of lively mouth, fruity, a wine of gastronomy.
