At the head of the First Great Wines Classified. A beautiful 15 ha estate surrounding the village of Chablis.
“For the 2017 vintage, Marie-Ange Robin explains, the vine broke very early between the end of March and the beginning of April. A frost episode took place from April 20 to 27. After a morning between -3 and -6°, the damage increased a little more each day.
The areas saved in 2016 such as Lignorelles, Beines, Villy, la Chapelle are among the most frozen. Courgis, Préhy are slightly less affected than in 2016. Maligny, devastated in 2016, is again. The East sector of Chablis completely devastated in 2016, is least affected by frost. The Chablis area, whether Premiers Crus or Grands Crus, froze well. Fortunately, from May 15 to June 15, it is the sun and the heat. Flowering at the beginning of June is particularly early. The summer is less warm and interrupted by stormy rains. Maturation has been delayed. The beginning of September is sunny with a certain freshness due to the North wind: ideal conditions for a slow maturation.
vintage profile: ideal harvest conditions with cool temperatures. Ripe but fresh and hyper fruity vintage. Acidity is slightly higher than in 2016. What distinguishes 2017 is purity and freshness. Everything is there, the distinguished fruity, the iodine touch, it is certainly a vintage that will delight Chablis enthusiasts.”
Grandissime Chablis Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes Valmur 2016, a mineral wine with hints of almond, white fruit and undergrowth, sweet on the palate, with hints of peach, apple, honey and broom, very charming, of beautiful evolution. We can see this with the 2012 Gold Medal Burgondia, where everything is present: race, finesse, aromatic power, persistence in the mouth. “Almost oily marly notes mixed with cocoa notes. Vegetable sensations a little elderberry flower. The mouth is on the same register between the sap and the saline marine footprint. Wine of amateur hyper terroir, wild with a finish shotgun, very long. In the making, but it will take a few years not to miss.”
In line, this sublime Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir 2016, very aromatic, spicy, both very fine and very structured, of a beautiful finish dominated by nuances of grilled and rose, already very seductive by its structure and its persistence of aromas in the palate, of guard. The 2012, marked by its old vines, nervous as it should, with nuances of citrus and grilled, ample mouth, complex, suave, with notes of fresh peach and grapefruit. The 2011, very balanced, fragrant, nose dominated by fresh yellow fruits and brioche bread, all in mouth, lively and fine, a classic and distinguished wine, of a beautiful harmony, long, with delicate nuances on the palate (pink, grilled, linden), parfair on shell oysters, caviar butter or a puff of turbot white, for example.
Great 2010 pretty golden dress, with this nervousness that combines with a certain suppleness, beautiful mouth with notes of lily, fresh apricot and grilled, all in persistence, with this suavité that is its own. The Chablis Grand Cru Blanchot Vieilles Vignes 2015, has discreetly mineral aromas, a fresh and very balanced wine, lemony mouth, subtle, bright color, nose of flowers and fern, all in complexity of aromas on the palate.
The Chablis Grand Cru Bougros 2016 is the most salivating of the range of Grands Crus, notes of shotgun stone, notes of marine, a wine tense that has a lot of personality and still needs a little to open, a Grand Chablis. The Chablis Premier Cru Montmains 2016, coming from a terroir facing south and south-east left bank of the Serein, soil of clay-limestone colluvions very stony on Kimméridgien basement. Vines from 30 to 45 years of age. Manual harvest. Natural decantation of wines without additions of pectolytic enzymes, alcoholic fermentation is done only with native yeasts... The wine has complex connotations where flowers and peach dominate, it is very harmonious, while subtle, ample, persistent, with intense aromas of flowers, musk and lemon. The 2015 is a great wine where finesse predominates, bold and complex on the nose as in the mouth, marked by nuances of toasted bread, ripe white fruits and hazelnut. The Chablis Premier Cru Montée de Tonnerre Vieilles Vignes 2016, with a delicate nose of citrus and grilled, powerful and very round in the mouth, racy and distinguished, where the flowers (hawthorn, broom) dominate on the palate. Superb Chablis Premier Cru Vaillons Vieilles Vignes 2016, fragrant and persistent, well dry and complex on the palate, flowering musk and peach, all in mouth, of a beautiful persistence of aromas, with characteristic nuances of lily and fennel. The 2015 is intense on the nose as well as on the palate, with notes of grilled and pink, nervous and tasty at the same time, perfect with a lobster stew with small vegetables or lobster roasted with herbs. The Chablis Vieilles Vignes 2016, is ample, bold and lively at the same time, floral and subtle mouth, with pear and almond nuances toasted on the palate. The Petit Chablis Vieilles Vignes 2016 is lively, fresh, classic and well balanced, with a floral palate. There is also its Chablis Vieilles Vignes cuvée Marie-Ange Robin 2016, with a nose dominated by spicy, fruity notes with a very iodine maritime imprint. Well balanced mouth, notes of bitter orange at the end of the mouth, nice persistence. As for the Chablis 2016, it has a frank mouth, an elegant nervosity, a pleasant floral nose (hawthorn, orange blossom) good salivating mouth.
