At the head of the Second Classified Great Wines, which comes to reward a formidable value for money-typicity.
The Castle owes its name to the English General Galian who from this place commanded the English troops during the occupation of Aquitaine in the 15th century. Family farm for several generations, planted with 50% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, which presents a perfect balance, classic and traditional of the Margaux appellation. The vineyard is spread over rumps of fine gravel.
Christiane Renon tells us that “the 2019 harvest went well, good weather, pretty very healthy grapes. The light rain at the end of August allowed the grains to grow a little.
There was a little water stress during the hot weather but not on the old vines which have deeper roots.
This 2019 presents a good quality of material, beautiful tannins thanks to the seeds which were very ripe. There is a real balance between power and elegance, it is a very beautiful vintage in line with the 2015 and 2016.
On sale we are offering 2017, a wine to drink more quickly, with a very pretty ruby color, on the nose, fruit and mocha notes, good balance, fairly round tannins, a wine that can be kept in the cellar. a good ten years, on the fruit, very pleasant.
The 2018, I will bottle it in May, it is a very very good vintage, superb colors, good aromas, a fleshy, fatty, well-rounded wine, good tannins, nice balance, power and elegance. ”

You will be welcomed by its charming owner to taste this Margaux 2017, particularly seductive, in fact, on the nose of overripe red fruits (plum, currant) and violet, all in suppleness, rich on the nose as in the mouth, a charming wine and gourmet, perfect, for example, on a navarin of lamb or a veal liver. The 2016 is a powerful and structured wine, with a subtle and intense bouquet at the same time, a wine which develops seductive aromas of blackcurrant and undergrowth, with very well balanced tannins, which deserves to be preserved to enjoy its potential.
Remarkable 2015 Margaux, colorful, a pretty dark red dress, with a full, rich bouquet, with liquorice and blackberry scents, well-melted tannins, dense mouth where nuances of black cherry and humus intermingle.
The 2014, deep purple color, rich but very elegant, very tasty, intense on the nose and in the mouth (wild strawberry, spices), with a very balanced and melted structure, very good aging. Tasty 2013, with a deep, rich and complete robe with notes of liquorice and blackcurrant, a flattering, round, full-bodied wine with silky tannins. The distinctive 2012 is distinguished, with a deep garnet color, which combines a beautiful structure with a lovely suppleness, all in nuances of aromas with connotations of plum, violet and prune, a warm mouth dominated by macerated strawberries, lead, for example, to a braised shoulder of lamb or an old-fashioned calf fricandeau. The 2011 is truly remarkable, with notes of ripe plum, a powerful, very tasty wine, with a melted mouth dominated by candied prunes, with excellent evolution, which can be started to serve on puff pastry with morels. Very beautiful 2010, rich in bouquet as in matter, all on the palate with nuances of stewed black fruit, with balanced tannins, full, aging. The 2009 is powerful on the palate, with ripe tannins, a wine that smells of ripe redcurrant and humus, all roundness, good structure, structured and fine at the same time, very good aging, to lead to a square of lamb with garlic. The 2008 is full of color and material, with a nose of morello cherry and smoke, rich and oily, intense, with a beautiful balance, a wine with tannins very present but silky.
There is also its other Margaux Château Charmant, whose 5 ha vineyard is planted on rumps of fine gravel, which has centuries-old vines, the cultivation is carried out by fertilization based on organic manure. All round, this 2017, typical of this attractive seductive vintage, with ample tannins, both silky and dense, with a complex nose dominated by cherry and cinnamon, mixing charm and structure. Superb 2016, with a complex nose dominated by ripe wild strawberries and humus, it is very well matured, with a deep robe, it is a full-bodied and fatty wine, with tannins well present and melted at the same time, a seductive vintage .
The 2015, of very good mouth, is well fleshy, with harmonious tannins, with nuances of overripe fruit and spices, beautiful black cherry color, rich and velvety on the palate with personality. The 2014 is a wine that reveals a bouquet of spicy and peppery notes, ample in the mouth with dense and velvety tannins, a persistent finish, and you will appreciate it with a guinea fowl with vanilla or a roast of veal stuffed with truffles.
Nice 2013, which has powerful aromas of black fruit, a well-structured wine, with ripe tannins, both rich and supple, with a nice finish.
