A 19 ha estate from an exceptional terroir of siliceous gravel and gravelly clays dotted with limestone rubble (65% Sauvignon, 15% Sauvignon gris and 20% Sémillon for white wines; 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet-Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc for red wines). Manual harvest, aging of white wine 30% in new barrels for 6 months on fine lees and 70% in tanks on lees also; red: drop wine 80% of the harvest in barrels for 12 months and press wine 20%. The wine produced on the estate is characterized by a mineral expression as much in red as in white reflecting the type of clay-limestone soil. The vine has been present for a long time at the Domaine de Grandmaison: from the 18th century, Monsieur de Belleyme, Cartographer engineer of King Louis XV, mentions our growth then called Barreyre. As time went by, wine production sometimes stopped (due to frost, phylloxera), and sometimes gave way to polyculture. Grandmaison also served as a country house. François Bouquier, who had to leave his native Cantal at the beginning of the twentieth century, sometimes harvested there and acquired the estate in 1939, when he knew it was for sale. Then, from 1970, Jean (his son) and his wife Françoise reconstituted the vineyard and undertook the construction of the current vat room. Grandmaison then went into production again. Since 1988, François (their son) has been making wine and with his wife Mayi, both have been involved in family ownership since 1993.

“We are presenting for sale in 2020, the red Pessac-Léognan 2015 and 2016, and in white the Pessac-Léognan2018 then 2019, explains François Bouquier.
For us, the 2019 harvest benefited from a very favorable climate, it started on September 9 to end on October 6, perfect sanitary condition, excellent quantitative harvest in red, a little less in white.
The 2019 is a fleshy, rich, complex wine, significant alcoholic degrees, expressive, well balanced as well in white as in red, it would look according to us, to 2009 but with less opulence. ”

True to itself, this red Pessac-Léognan 2016 is a success, developing ripe tannins, a tasty, charming wine, both rich and supple, very balanced, with an intense bouquet with notes of undergrowth, redcurrant and ripe cherry, ample mouth.
Beautiful 2015, where the structure predominates, with a powerful nose with notes of blackberry and humus, well fleshy as it should be, very good structure, with harmonious tannins, a distinguished, full-bodied wine. The 2014, with a nose of violets and undergrowth, all in color, with on the palate these intense notes of overripe red fruits, with ample but well-melted tannins, it is very harmonious.
Superb Pessac-Léognan white 2018, rich, very floral, very fragrant, with a long finish, with hints of grapefruit and toast. Remarkable 2016, fat, dense, full, with nuances of apple and dried fruit, smooth mouth, combining finesse and persistence. The 2015, with a delicate nose, with connotations of citrus and white flowers, is elegant

A property managed by Jean-Pierre Leymarie, a former market gardener, who became passionate about his wine, developing it little by little. The domain has 18.35 ha: almost 16 ha in red and 2.5 in white.
The vines have an average age of 20 to 25 years. The white harvest is manual and carried out by successive sorting according to a very rigorous phytosanitary criterion. They have been largely mechanical in red since 1997 (the youngest vines are harvested by hand), at optimal maturity and, again, according to an extremely rigorous phytosanitary criterion.

You will love like us this Pessac-Léognan cuvée Prestige red 2016 (selection of old vines, low yields, manual harvesting at optimal maturity), deep color, structured, ample, with rich tannins and which blend well, aromas of ripe fruit (blackcurrant, morello cherry ...), all in the finish. The 2015 has notes of cherry and undergrowth, dark color, very balanced on the nose and in the mouth, a beautiful warm wine, with, on the palate, nuances of ripe redcurrant and leather. The classic red Pessac-Léognan 2016 has a garnet color with purple reflections, it is all in the mouth, with a lot of structure, well balanced, with a nose of cherry and humus, very elegant structure.
Seductive Pessac-Léognan cuvée Alexandre blanc 2017, with nuances of hazelnut, pear and honeysuckle, beautiful dress, firm and sweet on the palate, persistent, all in harmony, really very pleasant. The 2016 is a pretty golden color, very round, very fruity, with a powerful and persistent mouth, with notes of almond and peach.
Also taste the Lafargue Dolphin, fleshy as it should be, with notes of fresh berries and humus, all in suppleness.
