THE GREAT CHARM OF CASTLE CANTENAC
. Nicole Roskam-Brunot, “woman of the wine”, impassioned since always, took the continuation of her grandfather and her father to take care with passion on the vineyards of the Château Cantenac. Today, surrounded by its sons, she celebrates the 70 years of the Castle and the arrival of the fourth generation.

“With the vintage 2007 which will be bottled this year, Nicole Roskam tells, we celebrate the 70 years of Château Cantenac and four generations. This 2007 are large a success besides, undoubtedly feeling that it had a role to play! Also, it is the moment to make a small return in our family history.
In 1937, my father, Albert Brunot, buy this property. Then in 1997, I take again the family winegrowing. A woman with the head of this marvellous Grand Cru of Saint-émilion! Then Frans, my oldest son, engineer de Purpan and oenologist, comes to my sides and deals of the technical part and part of marketing. It also manages our Listrac-Médoc Château Lauzette Declercq, Cru Bourgeois. In 2007, Johan joined us to deal of the marketing and the management of Château Cantenac. Thus a great pleasure of having Frans and Johan to assist me. I do not forget Frederic who even if there does not work on the property, carried nevertheless out Internet site and remains one fervant support. Thus everyone feels implied!
Another event with Cantenac, the œnotourism which takes a more significant part with traditional or personalized visit-tastings. And the charter Vineyards and wine storehouses in Bordelais” came to validate the quality of our reception.
There are also the open doors, in May, which is always the occasion to present our vineyard with a cultural and ludic event. Sophie Zina-O will present her sculptures this year and we will taste some Asian specialities.
Within the framework of the great hours of Saint-émilion, the first concert-tasting was organized with Quatuor Axone, the type-setter Fabien Levy and the electroacoustic participation of my Frederic son. Currently we present the vintages 2006 and 2007.
Château Cantenac 2006 is of a beautiful complexity, with the aromas of morello cherry and spices, of a color ruby, with round and harmonious tannins, a wine which combines fullness and elegance.
Our Sélection Madame 2006, more on the Merlot and its roundness, with its red and black fruit bouquet, with silky tannins, was preceded in Mondial of Brussels 2008.
A true success also for this marvellous Château Cantenac 2007 which combines a beautiful structure in mouth and a very beautiful aromatic complexity. Notes of black cherry, raspberry, liquorice, with delicate wooded, tannins quite present but silky, with a mouth all in smoothness and length.
Climat du Château Cantenac is a beautiful vintage (50% of new barrels), powerful and warm, with the finely toastées nuances, a wine rich out of matter, of excellent evolution.”
